Quartz
Description
QuartzThis piece was collected by Patrick and Carl Auclair in the 1990s. The piece is a superb quality, razor sharp, rather lustrous, GEM quality crystal group of colorless Quartz from an area that RARELY produces Quartz of this quality. Quartz of this quality is not usually seen from any locality in Colorado. Its much more reminiscent of Alpine Quartz from the standpoint of luster and gemminess. For reference, the piece simply looks better in person than
Siderite and Dolomite
this is a good representative piece
but now it's defined as a variety of either Orthoclase or Microcline depending upon the habit (monoclinic or triclinic)
Epidote is one of the most well-known of all the Alpine cleft species in the world
It’s nearly doubly terminated but a small contact at the base keeps it from being a complete floater
and this one is remarkably good-looking
but the greatest aspect of these pieces is two-fold
Specimen # BOL711B173
they are very seldom seen in today's market
as it hosts THREE individual twins which are beautifully intergrown
This twin is a great example of this material as it shows a fairly “open” twin
but it has a more muted appearance on the other side
