the very deep purple-black coloured 2018 Echo de Lynch Bages rolls seductively out of the glass with fragrant notes of candied violets

Juicy and vibrant

The bouquet reveals balsam herb

Plenty of citrus

a little shy at this point

lively citrus

and yet the 2021 has just enough mid-palate pliancy to pull it off

The 2018 Figeac is composed of 37% Merlot

excellent quality

there is nothing to exuberant in the fruits but it exudes deft confidence

So many aspects of Merlot coming through in this vintage
