Description
CreeditePurple is one of the rarest colors in the gem world (if you eliminate Amethyst). There are few purple gems out there, and Creedite is certainly one of the most elusive, especially in this color. In the early 1990s, a small amount of this uncommon halide species was discovered at the Akchatau Mine in Kazakhstan, and even though few specimens were found, they were some of the finest color examples of the species outside of Santa Eulalia, Mexico. This piece was collected in 1977 out of a very small pocket that only produced a limited amount of good Apatite specimens
gemminess and the ever popular "Contra Luz" effect
This specimen features somewhat thick
"sword"-shaped crystals of Vivianite with a bit of attached red altered sandstone from Tomokoni
trigonal crystals sit beautifully in a crystallized "ridge" on classic contrasting white Calcite matrix
The terminations on the Amazonite crystals are rare in my experience and make for a lovely color contrast
