Description
Dogon Door 03Dogon doors originate from Mali and traditionally adorned a Dogon granary, serving both to protect and bless the stores of food contained inside. The doors are hand carved from native woods with intricate designs. Carvings include figures which often represent ancestors as well as animals, plants and geometric shapes all of which are believed to posses spiritual and magical powers.
Whilst used primarily as a headrest they would often be used by the elders in the community as a stool as well
