Clay Ornament
Description
Clay OrnamentArtist Lisa Rutherford, Cherokee Signed and dated by the artist This clay ornament has been stamped rather than drawn on. After bisque firing, it goes into a wood fire to get the smoky colors. The designs are inspired by the symbolism found on Cherokee and Southeast tribes' artifacts. It is believed they represent wind, water, clouds, smoke and fire. Lisa hand digs her Oklahoma clay to make all of her pottery.
